Hi! I am a sewing teacher and owner of The American Seamstress

I founded The American Seamstress as a way to share my gift and love of sewing and all things needlework. I have been making my own clothing since I was 6 years old. Sewing is my lifelong passion, a craft I could not live without. My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 6 years old and I never stopped. I believe that sewing garments can also help us unlock love for our bodies. Our clothes need to fit us – not the other way around!

I am passionate about all forms on textiles and needlework. I love to make garments, quilt, and embroidery both by machine and by hand. I have even taken classes with the famous Hand and Lock school for embroidery to learn tambour embroidery! I also love spin yarn, knit, crochet, weave, wet/needle felt, and dye textiles. If it has anything to do with textiles, I am all in!

I have worked professionally in bridal and special occasion dressmaking and tailoring. I currently teach sewing, machine embroidery, and quilting at both online and at local schools and makerspaces.
